Paris in Springtime

I was lucky enough to be in Paris last month for a friend's wedding, what a glorious time of year to be in this beautiful city! The sun was shining, trees were in blossom or gleaming with new bright green foliage, flower beds in the grand 'jardins' were bursting with stunning colour and the Parisians were out in their best Springtime finery- a colourful scarf tied just-so to finish off the chicest outfits!

'Faire du lèche-vitrines' - Window shopping!

The shop windows are a true delight…it doesn't matter that you can't afford to actually buy! Just wandering the streets or browsing in the stores is enough to inspire you to be more creative with your wardrobe, be a little more discerning with your choice of accessories, to give you a sense of the style and sophistication of French women or just simply to put a 'spring in your step'!

For those of us in retail, the windows are also a startling reminder of the power of merchandising and creating an enticing and inviting retail ambiance. The window displays can stop you in your tracks and draw you in, make you want to find something, anything, to allow you to enjoy the thrill of purchasing from this beautiful store and falling in love with the brand.

Stylish shoppers

le bon Marche paris

Le Bon Marché (www.lebonmarche.com) on the Rue de Sevres is my favourite department store in the whole world! Smaller and more intimate than the other 'Grands Magasins', it is a superbly curated collection of all the best fashion, shoes, handbags, accessories, lingerie, gifts, stationery, cosmetics and so much more from every designer you can think of. Plus many more you have never heard of! A must-visit if you ever get to Paris.

You can spend many a blissful hour wandering the aisles marvelling at the beauty of design and craftsmanship,or just enjoying the spectacle of the customers themselves! On any day you will never see a more stylish group of shoppers, even the children are impeccably turned out.

That's not to say that we should disown our casual Kiwi cool but there's something to be said for the French attention to grooming, and to their penchant for wearing beautiful shoes! (We love that at Briarwood!)

Parisian delights, sweet treats

Carousel

No trip to Paris would be complete without a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower, a ride on a vintage carousel or sampling a delicious tarte aux framboises or a heavenly sweet macaron! Enjoy it all with a sense of gay abandon and carefree indulgence.

Visiting Paris, at any time of the year, is a wonderfully inspiring, uplifting experience. Put it on your bucketlist, I'm sure you will not be disappointed.
